OUR STORY
Joules Rio is a powerhouse pop/rock band that’s electrifying the Cocoa Beach, FL scene. With four exceptional musicians at the helm, this high-energy quartet is setting the Space Coast on fire.
Three dynamic lead vocalists fuel their fierce, genre-blending sound, effortlessly mixing their original anthems with crowd-pleasing covers that will have you dancing all night long.
At the heart of the band is Julie Klein—bass player, singer, and songwriter—the "Joules" behind "Joules Rio." The group is rounded out by the fiery guitar work and vocals of Wayne Lizardi, the keyboard wizardry and harmonies of Tony Castro, and the thunderous rhythms of Matthew Porcaro on drums. Their infectious grooves, unforgettable choruses, and soulful vocals make it impossible to resist sticking around for more.

Born and raised in the vibrant, eclectic beach town of Coconut Grove, Florida, Julie's musical journey began at a young age, blending the sun-soaked energy of her hometown with a passion for writing and performance. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music (though she’ll happily forgive you if you still hold that against her!), Julie has crafted a sound that’s all her own.

As the powerhouse bassist, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter for the dynamic band Joules Rio, Julie brings her unique musical vision to life with every performance. Now calling Cocoa Beach home, she lights up the Space Coast with Joules Rio, delivering an electrifying mix of original tracks and cool, genre-blurring cover songs.
Whether she’s surfing the waves or rocking the stage, Julie’s infectious energy and unforgettable tunes keep audiences coming back for more.

MATTHEW PORCARO
Born in Puerto Rico and raised on the vibrant sounds of the island, Wayne Lizardi’s musical journey took flight when his family relocated to the heart of New York City. At just 12 years old, Wayne formed his first band, sparking a passion for performance and songwriting that would shape his entire career.
The next chapter of his story brought him south to Cocoa Beach, where he became an integral part of his high school’s Jazz/Rock band, showcasing his talents on both trombone and guitar. It was there that Wayne’s versatility and musical ear began to shine. His time as a guitar major at the University of Central Florida further honed his skills, solidifying his reputation as a true master of his craft. In fact, Wayne’s musical knowledge is so vast that he’s known to claim, "I know every song ever written."

As the band’s resident guitar wizard, Wayne draws inspiration from the legends who shaped rock ‘n roll, with icons like Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and Yngwie Malmsteen fueling his drive for innovation and technical prowess. With his commanding stage presence and unmatched talent, Wayne Lizardi continues to mesmerize audiences with his guitar virtuosity, leaving an unforgettable mark on the music world.
Hailing from Alexandria, VA, Matthew picked up his first pair of sticks at age 10, and he's been unstoppable ever since. From mastering snare drum rudiments and marching rhythms in high school to locking in tight grooves on the drum set post-college, Matthew’s journey as a drummer has been a continuous evolution. He's played in more bands than he can count and jammed through enough gigs to make a calendar dizzy. Simply put, he's a drumming jukebox that doesn’t need a quarter to keep the hits coming.
His influences are legends in their own right—Vinnie Appice, Neil Peart, Jeff Porcaro, and Steve Smith—each leaving a unique stamp on his powerful yet precise playing. While his playlist leans heavily toward hard rock, heavy metal, and progressive rock, he’s just as at home recording with his long-time singer/songwriter friend or laying down smooth grooves for rock, pop, and Motown live shows.
As the backbone of Joules Rio, Matthew brings both precision and excitement to every performance, ensuring the beat never stops and the energy never fades.
TONY CASTRO
Tony, a dynamic Washington, DC native, has been rocking the keys since he was a kid, and his passion for music knows no bounds!
Whether it's the raw energy of rock, the soul of jazz, the heart of folk, or the timeless classics, Tony can play it all — and play it with style.
An entertainer at heart, Tony thrives on connecting with audiences, bringing an electric atmosphere to every performance. His infectious energy and charisma light up the stage, infusing every note with a joy that’s impossible to ignore.
